The transformation of Stafford town centre, beginning with the sensitive restoration of its historic market square. Funded through the Future High Streets Fund, the scheme refurbished the medieval square and the restructured the public highway to create greater usable space for public events, while reinstating the prominence of the Grade II–listed Guildhall. The environment was enhanced by the renewal of street fabric through high-quality street furniture and lighting appropriate to the heritage setting, the installation of new service infrastructure and the redefinition of the traditional division between road and pavement through the introduction of high-quality floorscapes.
