Olly's Story...

After A Levels in Economics, Geography and Business Studies, I joined HC as a school leaver in 2018. I knew I didn’t want to attend university full time and was keen to get into the world of work. I was, however, keen to obtain a degree so this opportunity was perfect for me. I enrolled onto the apprenticeship at London Southbank University (day release) and completed my BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and have since become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Where there other benefits to this route?

Throughout my five-year apprenticeship scheme, the best thing was the ability to develop my day-to-day skills and knowledge by learning from colleagues in the office – many of whom have also been through the apprenticeship – as well as get their help on university projects. Since completing the scheme, I’ve also had the opportunity to input into the training of new apprentices.

Why did you choose Huntley Cartwright?

Having explored apprenticeship opportunities, Huntley Cartwright stood out to me because it was a small business. I was keen to join a business where even new apprentices had contact with senior partners day-to-day and I could make an impact.

While talking with current apprentices, at my interview, it became clear that new apprentices are given the opportunity to show their abilities and take on responsibility very soon after joining.
