HOTELS AND LEISURE PROJECTS

Our hotel and leisure portfolio comprises city centre hotels, country and golf clubs as well as sports facilities.  We have delivered modest extensions through to new multi-facility wet and dry sports and health centres for private and public clients.

LITTLE VENICE SPORTS CENTRE

Westminster City Council

Huntley Cartwright acted as quantity surveyor for the construction of an environmentally friendly sports and community centre.  This project was substantially funded by Sport England and involved creating a main sports hall, multi-purpose hall, dance studio, fitness suite and skills active suite complete with changing room facilities.

The building, on a tight site with numerous planning considerations, achieved a BREEAM rating of “excellent”.

KINGS HILL GOLF CENTRE

Kent

Huntley Cartwright was engaged to provide quantity surveying services.

The building is located on a former RAF airfield.  The residential development and business park combines offices, workshop units, residential, leisure, education and retail buildings.

The project was conceived by a director of Liberty Property Trust as a golf clubhouse, designed in the style of an American colonial house.  Levels were an important aspect of the design to ensure that the entrance to the clubhouse from the car park and the exit to the golf course were accurately positioned.

The procurement route was design and build.  The project was completed on time and on budget.

THORNTON HEATH LEISURE CENTRE

Thornton Heath, Greater London

Huntley Cartwright provided a full quantity surveying service for the redevelopment of the Thornton Heath leisure centre.

The project involved the demolition of the existing Victorian baths.  The ground was improved using vibro-compaction prior to the construction of a 25 metre swimming pool, teaching pool, four court sports hall, crèche, dance studio and a 65-place gym.  In addition a new café, wet and dry changing facilities, associated staff facilities and basement plant rooms were built.

Huntley Cartwright assisted the council in obtaining a Sport England grant.  Detailed value engineering studies were also carried out on the design to achieve the best value for the council.

SURREY SPORTS PARK

University of Surrey

Huntley Cartwright were appointed as quantity surveyor to manage an architect’s competition and were appointed CDM co-ordinator.

The new sports facility comprises a 50 metre swimming pool, two multi-purpose sports halls, a fitness centre, multi-purpose activity rooms, squash courts, climbing walls, changing rooms, a kitchen, a bar, a café, a disabled access lift, staff administration areas, external utilities and M&E services.  The scheme replaces the existing Varsity Centre which remained open until the new facilities were completed.
